ABOUT MAURTEN
First things first: Maurten is pronounced like Morten. The company is named after Mårten, a triathlete and family friend of founder and entrepreneur Olof Sköld. The unique spelling arose because morten.com was already taken.
Mårten had the idea that new technology could enable higher energy intake through sports nutrition. This concept quickly gained the interest of elite athletes and was first used in competition by Kenenisa Bekele at the Berlin Marathon in 2016. Bekele won the race and improved his best time by 2 minutes. Since then, the roster of elite athletes using Maurten has grown and now includes world record holders and world champions across various endurance disciplines, particularly in running, cycling, and triathlon.
